David Irvin

Born in Omaha, Nebraska, David Irvin developed a passion for Architecture while growing up in Chicago, Indianapolis and New Jersey. The playful Architecture of New York City and the innovative design in Chicago inspired him, but it wasn't until he moved to Kansas City in 1966 and met the great visionary Architect Bruce Goff, that he settled on Architecture as a career. For the remainder of high school and during his studies at Kansas State University, David was guided and encouraged by Mr. Goff to use dramatic form and imagination in his designs. David lives with his wife and two daughters in Fort Scott, Kansas where the family enjoys all the benefits of small town living, and the midwest location provides easy travel access to friends and clients all over the country. An Architect in general practice since 1972 when he graduated from college, David's career has included restoration and renovation work, hands on building, construction management and a healthy dose of small commercial work, but his passion is designing houses. You can find examples of his restoration work in the "Painted Ladies" series of books that highlight Victorian color schemes across the country. His work has been featured in numerous newspaper, magazine and television articles throughout the midwest.
